Biennial Print Studio

For the first time, HP professional photo quality print is being used to produce all the photographs exhibited as part of Brighton Photo Biennial.  The Biennial Print Studio is a newly established initiative made possible through the generous support of HP providing printers, ink and all media.  And also, through the University of Brighton providing the Biennial with space during the summer of 2010 to undertake the print production process.

The Print Studio Team

Brighton Photo Biennial is delighted to welcome Conor Kilroe to this edition of the festival in the role of Head of Print. Conor is managing the Biennial Print Studio where he will carefully monitor the production of more than 300 exhibition standard prints in less than four months.  Conor has been working in the photographic industry for around ten years now. Initially, he worked in the Production Department at Magnum Photo's before spending five years managing Martin Parr's studio in London.

Conor is assisted by interns, Harry Watts and Aimee Woollard over the course of the print project.

HP Technology

For the production of each exhibit, HP has supplied the use of HP Designjet Z3200 photo quality printers, HP inks, HP Media, and an HP DreamColor Monitor and DreamColor Advanced Profiling Solution. This complete workflow is enabling Martin Parr and the Brighton Photo Biennial team to produce professional photo quality black and white and colour prints, for the festival exhibits.

The HP DreamColor LP2480zx Professional Display is the world's first colour-critical LCD monitor that utilises the DreamColor engine. It delivers broad colour support, rich visual quality, and consistent results. The monitor has over one billion active colours at its disposal, 64 times the colours supported by traditional LCDs.  Breakthrough colour control presents unprecedented colour fidelity through a tri-colour LED backlight.

The 12-ink HP Designjet, with new HP 73 Chromatic Red ink, delivers long-lasting gallery-quality prints in black-and-white and colour. The enhanced HP Color Center and embedded spectrophotometer simplify profiling and calibration tasks.
