Making It Happen

A conference for young people

Dates: November 2003

Nearly two hundred young people from across Brighton & Hove spent the day at the University of Brighton, where they engaged directly with successful artists from a range of positions within the creative industries through presentations, portfolio sessions and workshops. The day gave them the opportunity to hear from high profile professionals, including Citibank Prize nominee Peter Fraser, and the chance to question them directly about what they do and the skills they need to do it. The day also provided a valuable insight into the diverse range of career choices in the field of photography.

The University was closely involved in the event. Over twenty Editorial Photography students developed their professional skills by getting involved in the organisation of this massive event, and ten graduates received training in order to deliver practical workshops including digital photography, photograms and other experimental processes.
